An MRI conducted on the ribs of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was found to be clean on Monday, the NFL reported.
X-rays on Tagovailoa’s ribs also came back negative on Sunday after he was taken to the locker room following a hard shot from Buffalo Bills AJ Epenesa’s defensive end in the first quarter.
The availability of Tagovailoa for Week 3 is uncertain at this point. With a game coming up against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-0), it will all be about pain tolerance by playing with bruised ribs, according to the report.
Tagovailoa completed 1 of 4 passes for 13 yards and was fired twice before exiting after only two possessions.
Jacoby Brissett, who replaced Tagovailoa on Sunday, will likely get the call for the Dolphins (1-1) if second-year QB is unable to go.
Brissett finished 24 of 40 for 169 yards and an interception in the 35-0 mauling of the Bills. Brissett was fired four times in the loss.
